About Addison
Addison Chernow (she/her) is an Emmy Award-winning television director and technical director with more than a decade of experience leading live news and special event broadcasts. She currently serves as a morning Technical Director/Director at WCCO-TV, the top-rated television station in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul market, where she directs weekday morning, mid-morning, and noon newscasts.
During her tenure at WCCO, Addie has earned three Midwest Regional Emmy Awards, including an individual Emmy for Director – Newscast or ACP Operator. She has directed coverage of many of the region’s most significant and challenging news events, including the death of Alex Pretti during Operation Metro Surge, the shooting at Annunciation Church and School, and the politically motivated murders of Melissa Hortman, her husband, and their dog, as well as the shooting of State Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
In addition to her news directing work, Addie serves as director for several major industry broadcasts, including the Upper Midwest Emmy Chapter’s Gala, Silver & Gold Circle Awards, and Student Production Awards.
Before joining WCCO, she worked at WREX in Rockford, Illinois, and WKOW in Madison, Wisconsin, where she directed the station’s first high-definition newscast. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Electronic Communication from Marquette University.
When she’s not in the control room, Addie can usually be found restoring vintage computers and typewriters, spending time with her cat Finn, or disappearing down a YouTube rabbit hole. She also firmly believes that pepperoni pizza is an acceptable meal choice seven days a week.
